62 Upper Berkeley Street
Upper Berkeley Street is situated within the heart of the Portman Estate Conservation Area and is a Grade II listed building.
The works comprised the removal of the existing roof covering and part of the structure of the property at the Upper level to create additional accommodation and form a new mansard roof extension raising the height of the property. Following the extension the Client required the complete refurbishment and alterations to the interior to provide high specification residential accommodation.
Externally we undertook repairs and renewals to brick work, masonry and redecoration of the façade which sits directly on Upper Berkeley Street, including sash windows repair and redecorations.
The building was unoccupied during the course of the works however, is surrounded by residential buildings to both sides and the rear with car parking bays immediately outside and along the length of the building. Party wall agreements were required before the works could commence. In addition, the Russell Cawberry Site Manager continuously liaised with adjacent occupiers and delivered regular newsletters to notify of activities that may cause any disruption to local residents.
