Summary

This project for the Royal Marsden Hospital at Sutton, Surrey involved the construction of an extension at first-floor level to create a new radiopharmacy suite. The project was carried out in a sectional and phased completion as follows:

Phase 1: Enabling Works carried out throughout September to November 2016 at weekends only and Phase 2: Extension and associated works including new mechanical and electrical services and alterations to the existing accommodation.

Logistics to the site were challenging as the extension was an infill within an existing courtyard area.  Materials were transported to the site up and over the roof.  The plant at roof level was extensive to service this highly specialist laboratory and we were required to complete specific commissioning for the Trust to home office approval.  This includes a bomb proof entrance with re-inforced walls all around.  The laboratory rooms have cascading room pressures, non-through automatic doors, timed transfer hatches and as well as a wide range of highly specialised laboratory furnishes.
