George Wood Theatre, Goldsmiths University

Project Details

Client: Goldsmiths University

Architect: DJA Architects

Value: £1.6 million

Completion : September 2018

Initially delivering a major enabling works package for Goldsmiths University of London, which involved substantial structural alterations and demolitions to the Grade II listed George Wood Theatre, we returned to the site to complete the refurbishment and fit out works to create a modern and state of the art theatre space with seating for up to 200 people.

This included the installation of a specialist tension wire grid constructed to support the extensive lighting, audio and visual equipment.

Seating was designed and retractable seating bleachers installed which allows for a large flat floor area when retracted and is adaptable for extra seats as required, whilst also allowing space for wheelchair access.
